Jan Hoggan, Aromatherapy Massage Therapist and Meditation teacher (International Therapy Examination Council and The British School of Meditation qualified)

I trained and then qualified as a Massage therapist in 2000 and further specialised in Aromatherapy in 2001.  I trained to be a Meditation Teacher and completed a 2 year Certificate in Counselling skills at Swansea University in 2018.

I combine my knowledge of aromatherapy essential oils, massage techniques, meditation training and experience, to provide an holistic approach to treating many physical and emotional symptoms that benefit from a whole person/ body/mind therapy.

Meditation is simply a choice to focus your mind on something and create a happier life for yourself, no previous experience is necessary.  I will guide you through a variety of meditation techniques as used by so many today to combat stress and anxiety.  Comedian Ruby Wax has long promoted the benefits of Meditation in her own life and I will help you to take the mystery out of this much sought after practice.  Clients may wish to remove their shoes and will usually be seated for these sessions.

Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils for their curative properties.  Oils usually have the name of the plant that they are derived from, such as Lavender and Black Pepper.  Each oil has its own specific healing properties: they can for example calm the nervous system, reduce inflammation, ease aches and pain and uplift your spirits.  Aromatherapy Massage relaxes both the body and mind.  I will consult you first about your general health and wellbeing and then usually 2 or 3 essential oils will be blended in a base oil for the massage treatment.  The massage can be as little or as much as you feel personally comfortable with, from a simple hand massage to full body massage (excluding the stomach and chest area of the body).  The client will be supported to use a therapy massage couch (towels and a robe are provided) and only the part of the body being massaged will be exposed at any given time.

One of the benefits of visiting a therapist is the comfort factor – the therapy room in Bronleigh House is a place where you will feel safe, undisturbed and have confidence that you are being supported in your decision to take care of yourself.  I look forward to meeting you.
